About the Competition

The First Nations Housing Design Competition is an exciting design competition that aims to channel innovative thinking and design to produce affordable, high-quality housing for First Nations communities.

Technology and innovation are advancing at unprecedented rates, with innovators constantly challenging the traditional ways of doing things. We want to attract the world’s best and brightest to help us find a solution to longstanding First Nations housing problems.

We will launch an international call for conceptual designs for a house that can be built for $25,000 or less. The design must meet specific criteria set out by the competition rules. The top three conceptual designs will be shortlisted by an expert panel and given a prize of $10,000 cash and $25,000 to build their design in a First Nations community in British Columbia. The three constructed homes will be judged by the expert panel, and the winning home will be awarded a grand prize of $250,000.

Competition details and rules will be posted in the coming months.
